Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) for Prince Edwards island is a serious failure

Federal Immigration Minister Jason Kenney has expressed his fears about Prince Edward island's mismanagement of the Provincial Nominee Program may have distorted Canada’s goodwill all over the world.

On his latest statement he said:
“This was a serious failure that was not just about the Island, it affected the integrity of our Canadian immigration system,” Kenney said in an interview with The Guardian. “We haven’t seen anything that bad in any other part of the country, at least to my knowledge. And I hope it hasn’t caused any reputational damage for Canada or for the Island overseas for prospective immigrants.”
Provincial Nominee Program in P.E.I has been under controversy since 2008. This program offered permanent residence in Canada to those individuals or families who invested the amount of between $105,000 and $200,000, some of which went into an Island company. The program was launched to attract foreign investors to boost local economy of Prince Edward island by establishing local businesses and get the Canadian immigration at the same time.
